Literature Text

First came the illumination,
Light to cleanse this darkened nation.
To cast in bright like sapphire
And all the world is ash and fire.

Then came rumbling catastrophe,
Like a howling wayward banshee
Crumbling cities in her desire,
And all the world is ash and fire.

Wind, as death's silent sweeping hands
Sweep across to purify the land.
Carry away man's reaching spire,
And all the world is ash and fire.

Aftermath, only dreams and death,
The smell of sulfur's putrid breath.
Lie upon the funeral pyre,
And all the world is ash and fire.
We are the one race that has the power to make our, and nearly every other species, extinct.

Wow so vivid. And so true! And unlike any other species, it is all about power and wealth rather than survival. I find it rather pathetic.
